Counselling Practice

I approach my work from a strengths based, harm reduction and trauma-informed orientation, which involves incorporating Internal Family Systems into my practice. This framework prioritizes a non-pathologizing approach to mental suffering, allowing individuals to gain a better understanding of their thoughts, beliefs and motivations. By uncovering inner resources, counseling can open up new ways of being.

It is important to note that during the counseling process, individuals may experience temporary discomfort or worsening of symptoms as they access the sources of their suffering and gain new insights into themselves, others, and their relationships. However, the ultimate goal of this therapeutic work is to provide a supportive and compassionate space for individuals to process and metabolize unconscious or unprocessed events from their past, leading to increased self-understanding.

Individuals exist within a variety of contexts and I aim, in my work, to include a socio-political and transpersonal lens to my therapeutic relationships.
